So I learned something today that maybe Wyvern and Dunwa can confirm or deny? Jobby is a Scottish word, term or phrase. Some of my colleagues and I were talking in work and one of them was recounting the Jobby in the margarine urban tale when we were interrupted by our work mate from Leicester who asked whats a Jobby. To much hilarity. Anyway fast forward a few hours by which time my mate had asked most of our English work mates about it. The majority have lived and worked up here for ages so had heard it but said not until they moved here. Weird. I assumed everyone knew what a Jobby was and knew and rejoiced in the amusing tones of the word. Or maybe ive just spent too much time around kids and not adults recently. That's not a reflection on the dept. btw. :P

To have lived a life and to have not revelled in a snigger at the simple 'Jobby!'

Now that you know it will you use it? You gotta admit it has an amusing sound. Especially when you hear little kids say it.

Especially in public. In a restaurant...

Sure, if only because no-one else will know apart from any random Scots hanging around :-)

Stay out of pubs, then.

Having spent the first 7 years of my life in Scotland, and Kirliston Primary school, I am well versed in Jobby. I did once spit coffee all over the screen when I was learning PHP and I was asked to install the master jobby cron job.
