Re: Job for Boaby
I have a theory about red hair, bearing in mind it runs in both sides of my family (my mums side and my dads mums).
Scotland is on the fringes of Europe and is mountainous/hilly.
Recent evidence shows Humans interbred in some places with Neanderthals (notably parts of Europe and North Eastern Asia, both areas with red hair occurring in the populace, yes Northern Han and Manchu can be red heads).
Recent evidence also showed Neanderthals had Auburn/red hair.
Neanderthals lived in the outer regions and hard to reach parts of Europe possibly to escape being hunted/enslaved/eaten by modern Humans.
My theory; "Pictish" peoples, which were not Celts, despite hokey pop science trying to say otherwise, are the source of the red and that red comes from being interbred with neanderthals "back in the day" say around 20k - 40k BC. I would say the same for the incidences of "red" hair in North Eastern China and Russia. Although not what we would call Ginger it is still obvious in the light that the black hair is deep auburn/red.

Nah. Im saying early Homo Sapiens that interbred with Neanderthals produced offspring that are responsible for the red hair genes. I would go further and say evidence tends to show that fertile hybrids are more adaptable evolutionarily speaking and therefore that red heads are in fact the superior human due entirely to their breeding with Neanderthals. Whats more if you look at the pattern of great world changing inventions and where many of them originate or the inventors family's originate then Scotland and Northern China are both hot beds. Of course I could merely be taking the pish or not... :wink:Haviland wrote:Um, so you're saying that redheads slept with Neanderthals?

Nope and no offence to any red heads but I have never found one attractive either at least not because of their hair colour at any rate, I could say the same for Blonds but.
